Smart Routing
Smart Routing automatically chooses the best format for each send, SMS or MMS, to maximize delivery while keeping your cost down. When MMS is not needed, we send SMS. When a carrier is more likely to filter plain SMS, we include an image and send MMS.
Why images matter: many dispensaries use MMS because some carriers and spam filters treat image messages differently than plain text. That difference can help messages land more reliably in the inbox, especially on routes that are more sensitive to repeated, high volume SMS. The tradeoff is cost. MMS costs more, and sending an image when it is not needed does not add value for the customer.
Smart Routing is designed to get the best of both. It uses delivery signals and historical results to decide when an image is actually required. This helps reduce unnecessary MMS sends, improves overall performance, and lowers your average cost per delivered message.
If you prefer to always send MMS, you can disable Smart Routing and force images on every message. That can be useful for specific campaigns, but it will cost more per send.
